Image editing: Vectorize, raster to vector

Vectorize means convert any raster based image to a vector based format. Vector based images use mathematical expressions to store the image information, mostly Bezier curves. These file formats are common in CAD related areas, in CGI and in professional design. Despite raster images vector based images can be distorted, rescaled and enlarged with no quality loss. Because of the limitations using lines and solid colored areas these kind of images can not be as detailed as a photo. The most common formats are:

AI (Adobe Illustrator), CDR (CorelDRAW!), WMF (Windows Metafile) and DXF (AutoCAD). These formats, or at least one of them are supported by all of the professional image processor programs. Let's begin image editing and convert an image from raster to vector!

The original logo design. It was scanned from a company letterhead. Hence it is a low resolution raster image, it is absolutely unusable for printing purpose in this format.
During the image editing process, all elements are outlined with Bezier curves and lines. Vector based texts are placed properly into the same position as on the original.

The result is a smooth, resizeable vector image. This logo will be completely the same on a side of a truck.
